ResponsibilitiesScientists at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) carry out research in various fields to provide independent advice to EU policymakers and put science at the heart of European policies. Originally established under the Euratom Treaty, the JRC has longstanding expertise in the nuclear field, but offers scientific competences from a wide range of disciplines to support almost all EU policy areas. We work closely with research and policy organisations in EU countries, European institutions and agencies, and scientific partners in Europe and worldwide. Our core strengths are anticipation - providing the scientific underpinning for future policy initiatives; integration - linking scientific and policy areas as no single area can provide answers to today's complex challenges; and impact - assisting policymakers to track and assess the impact of their policiesJoint Research Centre websiteTransparencyAs part of the Commission's commitment to transparency, Commission staff holding management functions publish information on and minutes of all meetings they hold with interest representatives.Meetings of the Directorate-General for Joint Research Centre Leadership and organisation Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva (Acting) Director-General, Deputy Director-General Bernard Magenhann (Acting) Deputy Director-General Matthias Oel 1 APRIL 2025Joint Research Centre - Organisation chartOther languages (2)Deutsch(859.85 KB - PDF)Downloadfrançais(868.16 KB - PDF)Download Search for staff Contact Show contact detailsJoint Research CentreNameJoint Research CentrePhone number+32 2 299 11 11 (Commission switchboard)Postal addressEuropean Commission Rue du Champ de Mars 21 1050 Brussels Belgium Press contactsSend a message to this department Related links Horizon EuropeJRC publications repositoryJoint Research Centre Data CatalogueKnowledge for policy - evidence-based policymakingJobs at the JRCMore on the topic of research and innovation Plans and reports Commission work programmeThe Commission work programme sets out a plan of action for the next 12 months.
